Hi Everyone,

I'm just about to receive my very first Raspberry Pi3 and i know that it can be powered via a use port provided that the port can supply enough power. Due to the number of power outlets that i currently have i was wondering if anyone would know if i can safely power the device via the usb ports that are on this type of Power Extension Lead:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Safemore-Fireproof-Adapter-Charging-Protector/dp/B014GMHP2I/ref=sr_1_1?s=diy&ie=UTF8&qid=1465380026&sr=1-1&keywords=Surge+Protected+Extension+Socket

All advice would be much appreciated.

the extension lead states that it has
6 outlet with two USB 2.1 amp charging ports.

The raspberry Pi 3 recommends using a 2.5A power supply.

The Lead you have is a little underpowered but it would probably work as long as you don't have many power hungry peripherals attached to the Pi3.
