I have purchased a USB 16 Channel Relay Module - RS232 Controlled from Denkovi "http://denkovi.com/usb-16-relay-board"
I have installed the DRM software onto my Raspberry pi 3 which seems to work ok. I have plugged the relays into the usb port and the pi appears to notice there is something there and tries to get the relays name, but without success. How do I get the software to talk to the relay board. I am very new to the raspberry pi and linux programming, so if anybody knows how to do this could they assume they are talking to an idiot

Have you connected a 12V or 24V power supply to the relay board?

From what I can see the board is designed to be powered from a separate DC supply and USB is only used for telling the board what relays to energise.

Which operating system are you using with your Raspberry Pi?
Their DRM software states that it has been tested with Ubuntu and OpenSuse, not Raspbian (or Debian, which Raspbian is based on).
