Hi there,

I have a query, I'm basically a massive newbie to the whole Raspberry Pi thing, and have limited knowledge.

I've got myself an Adafruit TFT Touchscreen and a Cirrus Logic Audio Card for my Raspberry Pi 2.

The display was easy to set up, however I spent days of scrawling through code to get the audio working. Course both use the GPIO slot, is there any option for me to use both devices via the GPIO slot? I have some jumper cables to have a fiddle but I don't wanna tamper with things I don't yet understand.

Would I need to get a HDMI touch display in this case?

Hi,

I don't think the cirrus logic card is compatible with the Pi 2, as they moved all the I2S pins (used for audio) around between Pi 1 B (26 Pin), and the Pi 2 (40 Pin)

Hey Jake,

I managed to get the Cirrus Logic Audio card to work with my RPi2 albeit it took three days to figure out! Works like a dream, just need a touchscreen display to work alongside!

Nice!

Depending on what pins the logic card uses, and what pins the TFT uses, you should be able to get them working alongside each-other. Alternatively, as you've suggested - there are HDMI touchscreens that use USB for touch, in addition to the official touchscreen which utilises the Pi's CSI port

See I can't find any documentation on the pins the TFT uses...It seems to only be attached to the first 20 or so pins, and there's what I would assume an output for them on the back of the unit.

I saw that, that's helpful thankyou! However do you know any touchscreens that would use a HDMI and USB that would be a bit smaller than the official one? I preferably need something smaller than 4.5". I'm still pretty new to all this!

Hi,

Assuming your using Adafruit's PiTFT 480 x 320 3.5" ?

Uses the hardware SPI pins (SCK, MOSI, MISO, CE0, CE1) as well as GPIO #25 and #24. GPIO #18 can be used to PWM dim the backlight if you like.

Thanks for your help Jake!

Both the Adafruit and Cirrus Logic Audio used the same pins for various things so I've managed to buy a touchscreen that uses the HDMI port for display, and USB for touch!

Only 5 inches, and almost completely plug and play (need to adjust for overscan, and calibrate touchscreen) arrived today, and works a treat, thanks for you help!
