Hi - Any experience on this forum for building up a pi to use as a squeezebox replacement?

No experience, but I think Max2Play software has the function that you're looking for

Hi Gavin,

piCorePlayer for a squeezelite device (works with Pi A, B, 2B, 3B and Pi Zero W - though you have to update some files on the boot partition using the latest raspbian Jessie image).

For a server just install raspbian lite and LMS - it's quite easy. Just follow this guide: ... r-for-bbq/
You can also install squeezelite and make it a player as well as a server.
