Hi Folks,

We needed the solution for Multiple Mini cameras connectivity with a Single Pi, with long cables upto 8-10 feet cable. Any suggest solution will be highly appreciable. Some thoughts are as below:

- Is there any option to extend 15cm standard upto desired length? what will be effect on performance?
- If we extend the cable, then is there any option to connect multiple cameras? because currently we have ad-on board option

your prompt response will be highly appreciable.

Thanks & Regards,

Ali

only the compute module can accept more than one Pi Camera input (and that can only take two). If you absolutely have to connect all of the cameras to one PI then I would suggest using USB cameras connected via USB Hubs to extend the operating distance from the Pi.

Alternatively Connect one camera per Pi (short cable) and connect all of the camera Pi's to one master Pi (by ethernet) which aggregates the signals.

We have this - https://www.modmypi.com/raspberry-pi/ca ... spberry-pi

That will allow you to join as many cables as you want together. However I'm not sure at what length you'll starting seeing problems.

Dave,

Thanks for your reply, for length I also have found upto 6.5 (200cm) cable here https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/rasp ... mera-cable , I have ordered right away, till not tested at my end, so cam performance is still predictable.

My second requirement is could I use multiple (upto 8 cameras on a sinlge PI)? if yes! then any one can suggest me any hub type solution, which merge all cameras for PI?

Regards,
Ali

Hi Ali,

Looks like there have been two topics running the same question, these have now been merged into this topic.

Please see previous post regarding multiple cameras.

There is a risk of signal loss with long pi camera cables, the longer they are the greater the risk.

There are a multitude of USB cameras and spy cams, most are plug and play on the raspberry pi.
