Hello, I'm Gordon

So as title says I have a problem with my cam

I have a:
Raspberry pi camera V2
Raspberry pi 3 model B

I'm working on a school project so this thing is borrowed.

The things I tried so far is everything that happened here: technical-support/problem-with-new-pi-camera-t649-10.html

The error I get when using "raspistill -o test.jpg"

Cannot read camera info, keeping the default for OV5647
mmal_vc_component_create: failed to create component 'vc.ril.camera' (1)
failed to create camera component
main: Failed to create camera component
camera is not detected. Please check carefully the camera module is installed correctly

I think the problem is that the camera is not connected to the raspi since when I pull on the ribbon got off pretty easily

Sounds like the camera might be faulty but please try the following:

1. Make sure the camera has been enabled in raspi-config:

Code: Select all

sudo raspi-config

Then go to interfaces and enable the camera.

2. Power off the Pi.
3. Connect the Camera to the Pi with the ribbon cable. Double check the orientation of the connections.
4. Power on the Pi.
5. Test camera:

Code: Select all

raspistill -v -o test.jpg

Hi Dave,

I have tried it and I get the same error message.

And is it normal that you can easily pull off the camera ribbon?

No, the ribbon cable should be pretty secure, you can pull it out, but only with a decent amount of force. Are you pressing the securing clip down correctly?
