I'm planning a project where I want to run four 12v peristaltic motors through two L298N Dual H Bridge motor controllers. I'm planning to control these through a custom kivy GUI using the adafruit 3.5" pitft touchscreen which I'm fairly confident I can get running ok.
My question comes down to the power supply, the finished project hopefully will be "packaged nicely" and the plan is for it to have a permanent power supply not from batteries. I'm looking to power both the Pi and the motors from one power supply as having two just wouldn't be practical. After a bit of digging on the net I've sourced some 12v power supplies like so:

Obviously I would need to scale it down for the Pi and with another search I came across this:

My plan would be to strip the convertor down and solder it in my circuit in order to power the Pi. I'm just wondering if it's plausible that these two items in conjunction will set me on the right path in order to power my project? (I'm not hugely experienced with electrics but I will do the leg work and research if it's plausible.)
