Post by adeibiza » Sun Mar 24, 2019 6:23 pm

i've got an hdmi & usb 7" touch screen and am trying to minimize cabling into a small box, it it possible to use a that usb cable (or canabalise various other micro usb cables i have), chop it and use the white wire to a gpio and would it work ? ;)

the touchsreen has an hdmi cable and a micro usb (connected to touchscreen & then to a normal usb to the pi)

rather than have the usb connecting to the pi which adds another 40mm length to the front of the box can i chop the usb cable from the touchscreen, connect red & black to pos & neg and then the white (data wire?) to i assume a gpio ?

it's really more of a "is this possible, could it be done" sort of thing :)

Ah ok I think I see.

I don't think this is possible as there isn't a USB interface on the GPIO pins.
