Hi,

Disappointed to announce that my Pi Zero W that was delivered yesterday is faulty. Booted up for a few seconds then died and will not boot up at all now... no led.. absolutely dead! I have tried two different 5V, 2A PSU's and one 5V 2.5A one al well.
Also destroyed my 16GB sd card in the process as that has now corrupted track 0 and will not re-format anymore.

Video evidence: https://youtu.be/sz8Ss5yV_P8

Invoice ID 232484

Please help!

Kind regards,
Brani

I suspect that the SD card is the cause of the problem and the Pi is probably ok.

How have you tried formatting the SD card? Could you try the method outlined in this guide - http://s.modmypi.com/noobs

Do you have a spare SD card you could format and install Rasbian on (as outlined in the previous guide)

Thanks for the reply.
I took the risk and formatted my wife's memory card (without her knowledge) and put noobs on there but same thing. Absolutely no response from the pi (black screen, no LED, nothing).

Ok, thanks for trying that. Think we best get that Pi back for testing!

I will have sales contact you to arrange a return for replacement

I've tested the returned Pi Zero W, but I'm unable to find any issues with it. It boots up properly and the green activity light flickers away during boot.

I'll get a replacement shipped out anyway for you, but just triple check the SD cards you are using. Make sure they are formatted as per the previous guide and make sure they have the very latest version of NOOBs loaded, download from here - https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/noobs/

If you still have issues with the Pi, then it could be a power supply issue.

Hi Dave,

That's so strange, I'm getting some new SD cards tomorrow, hopefully it will work with those. I'm pretty sure the PSU are fine as they have worked with previous pi's. I've spoken to sales a ordering a second pi, is it possible to combine the shipping of the extra one with the replacement?

Cheers,
B

Yeah not a problem, if you email sales your order ID with a link to this thread they will combine the orders.

Hi Dave,

I think it's best I do not complicate life. Could you please just send the replacement out.

I'll place the new order some other day.

Cheers,
Brani

Hi Dave,

I have recieved the replacement. Using the same SD card, same Raspbian image and same PSU, this one works flawlessly
I have no idea why the other one didnt work...
Just want to say thank you to the team for the great customer service.

Cheers,
Brani
