New Link 4 Port USB Hub disassembly

Post by ash73 » Fri Jan 27, 2017 1:12 am

Hi, anyone tried removing the plastic case of the New Link 4 Port USB Hub? I'm installing one with my Pi in a transparent case and would rather have the circuit board on show. I had a look under the rubber feet but there are no screws; is the case glued or is there a nack to removing it?

I haven't got access to one to examine it but if there are no visible screwholes (or concealed ones, under feet, labels etc) then I would imagine that the case simply clicks together.

A screwdriver inserted into the seam and gently twisted will reveal the latch positions and often cause them to pop open. this will result in cosmetic damage to the seam (where the screwdriver damages the plastic) but if you are discarding the case then this won't put you off.

Thanks. Luckily I spotted another hub on here with the case already removed, and having seen it I will leave the case on! I was hoping to see a nice circuit board under there not a grey slab!
