Faulty GOPiGo3

Post by victoria » Wed Aug 22, 2018 6:55 pm

This is an email concerning a Faulty GoPiGo3 which, after assembly, would not activate. WE have pressed the activation button in excess of 10 minutes with only a red and flashing green light to show for it. This leads me to believe that the robot is faulty.
Please advise.

This was purchased on 17th July 2017

Hi
I have contacted Dexter Industries and they have said we need a replacement robot. The code was defective. Please advise. Kind Regards Victoria

The post received from Robert Lucian from Dexter Industries is below:

That board looks like it’s malfunctioned and needs to be replaced. It’s quite a common issue caused by a defective diode - we are already using a different supplier for the diode that should prevent this problem to happen again.

Can you tell us if you’re from the US and if you bought the GoPiGo3 from us or from a distributor? If you bought it from a distributor, you are going to have to ask them for a replacement - and we can work with the distributor to make it right.

Thank you!

Hi Victoria,

I'm sorry to hear that the replacement did not fix the issue. That is extremely unusual.

I'll have an additional replacement shipped out today for delivery tomorrow (I'll get our team to test the unit to ensure function before it's sent).

Again, I'm really sorry for the hassle around this.

Hi
Thank you for the tested replacement part.
We have the robot working, however we have the following two issues:

Robot wont go in straight line.
Wheels turn at diffrent speeds.

This robot has not been working as it should, we brought it in July as a holiday project for our son, and its now mid September and still isn't working as it should. If it needs another replacement please will you test it before sending it to us, failing this we would like to return the robot, and get our money back.

Please advise.
Kind regards
Victoria
