PIDAC PRO cant be detected

Post by Ciro » Sun Sep 09, 2018 7:02 am

Hello modmypi,
I have purchased pidacpro but it cant be detected by my raspberrypi 3b. Im using rasbian stretch, apt-get update and upgrade all the time

Order# 238888

Config.txt has the following-
dtoverlay=iqaudio-dacplus
# Enable audio (loads snd_bcm2835)
#dtparam=audio=on

It cant be detected when i command aplay -l and alsamixer. There's led light on the pidacpro though.

I can play mpd music through a separate external dac. with proper config.txt param lines for the external dac.

When i comment/uncomment# back to the respective dtoverlay and dtparam back for pidacpro. It still can't detect the pidac.

I used to have pidacplus bought in 2015 running until it died few weeks ago, with green led still lit but undetectable. That's why i ordered this pidacpro.

Btw, i have tried 2 microsdcard. 1, freshly intalled with raspbian stretch and 2, with stretch upgraded from jessie.

It looks like this pidacpro is doa.

I used up a lot of my time trying and reinstalling raspbian.

Hope you can help me.
Thank you.

Could you flash this quicktest image to an SD card and try it please - http://www.iqaudio.com/downloads/IQ_0_q ... 30.img.zip

This will determine if the DAC is indeed faulty.
IQ_0_quicktestDAC*.zip
This is a basic quick test SD card image.
On startup the amp is un-muted
On startup volume is set to 30%
Plays a set mp3 file at startup (see /etc/rc.local)
Useful to check that you have installed the IQaudio hardware correctly.
Supports Pi-DAC PRO / Pi-DAC+ / Pi-DigiAMP+, Pi-DACZero and Pi-AMP+
Suitable for Raspberry Pi Zero / A+ / B+ / RPi2 / RPi3 / RPi3B+
NOT SUITABLE FOR THE Pi-DIGI+ (Digital output card)

Hmmm, image should flash fine on a 16GB sd card.

I've just flashed the image, using etcher, to both a 8Gb card and 16Gb, so it should be working fine.

How are you connecting the SD card to the computer? Could it be a faulty SD card reader?

Could you try formatting the SD card first using this - https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

Then flashing the image with this - https://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/
