[PICO H3.0B+] Raspberry3B won't boot when FSSD is pressed

Post by thaidoan » Sat May 04, 2019 8:43 pm

Hi, I'm new to UPS Pico.

I bought a UPS pico H3.0B+ for my raspberry pi 3 and what I have done:
  • I followed the instructions to update the firmware to the latest version (0xE3),
  • soldered the GOLD plate to connect the RUN to P3,
  • soldered the jumper to connect P5 and P0.
When I pressed the F button, it did shut down the Pi 3, but when the button was pressed again, it didn't do anything. I thought it was supposed to wake up my raspberry pi?

The RR button did, indeed, reset the raspberry during the shutdown state. And the pi was powered by cable throughout the process.

Thanks in advance.

After the first press of the "F" button, once the Pi has shutdown the LED labelled "UPS" on the PIco should turn off (it takes about 30 seconds after first press). At this point, pressing the "F" button again will power the Pi back up.

Does this seem right to you?

Hmm, no. Something isn't quite right there.

First thing I can see is that you aren't using the supplied header? You should have received one of these with the PIco https://www.modmypi.com/raspberry-pi/gp ... gle-shroud This makes sure the PIco is connected correctly and helps to prevent the pico from touching the RPi, which could cause damage to either boards.

Are you using the latest version of Rasbaian, and have you triple checked that the daemon has been installed correctly? - https://github.com/modmypi/PiModules/wi ... stallation - Make sure ALL steps are completed in the installation guide.

Do you have any scripts running on the Pi that could be changing the state of these two pins: GPIO27 (Pin13) & GPIO22 (Pin15)

Those pins are responsible for telling the PIco what state the Pi is in.

I put the supplied header on, reinstalled new Raspbian to mine SSD (the newest version), followed the installation carefully but it's still like that (I have already tried 5 times so far).
I'm curious why the battery led's always lighting even when the raspberry is powered via cable? Does this mean the raspberry pi is in battery mode?

Ah ok, if the bat light is always illuminated it probably means you mains power supply isn't quite up to scratch.

How are you powering the Pi?

Ok, as it's not an official Raspberry Pi power supply, are you able to try a different PSU?

We see this problem fairly often when the PSU isn't quite up to scratch.
